Almain collar refers to an assembly of gorget and long spaulders called munnions attached directly to the gorget forming a complete unit and seeming to have been developed in Germany sometime in the mid 16th century. The armoury at Graz has literally thousands of these assemblies. Using the historical original munnion in our gallery we have developed a set of Almain collar. Made from 16 gauge steel with hand rolled and counter sunk boarders and beveled exposed plate edges where appropriate this set comes fully strapped. Articulation is achieved through a combination of slot riveting and leather straps. Suitable for mid 16th through 17th century use. MADE IN THE USA. Also avaliable with ropped borders which became fashionable in the 16th century.
