Early 16th Century Mitten Gauntlet



This gauntlet dates to the 1520's-30's. The plates from the first knuckle forward are missing with the articulating holes for them filled with later rivets, otherwise it is all original. The cuff border has a thick broad type of roping called cabling. There is a small raised section at the wrist for the bone that becomes pronounced near the thumb which tells us this is a left hand gauntlet.
