Early 16th Century Bevor Attachment Front

This is a bit of an unusual piece that we have not encountered before. These two plates are to be found on some early 16th century bevors so that when used with an open faced chapel de fer the entire from of the face would be covered as the top plate would meet the brim of the helmet. This example was made to attach to a pin on each side of the bevor with snek hooks to allow the bevor to be used with a chapel de fer or other open faced helmet if desired, or removed for use with a visored sallet. It is in effect an option for the bevor to allow it to be used in two rolls.
