Burgeonette c.1570-80

This helmet is a bit of a mystery. It is of cabascette/burgeonette form and has all the halmark traits we've come to look for in originals including a hole punched in the back brim for a thong to hang the helm from the belt when not worn which has worn away the ropping at the peak of the tail and the etching on the left rear portion of the helm where it would rub against the leg when hanging from the thong. The thing that has us stumped is the fact that the bowel of the helm which is made in two halves is neither flush riveted together which normally how it was done during the period nor is it welded together which is how Victorian copies were made, the two halves are silver soldered together which we've never ever seen before. The helmet is of great form with edges rolled over wire and deeply countersunk and roped and the whole is deeply etched.
