Loop Hilted Small Sword

This wonderful little sword is part of a sub familly of the small sword called loop hilts. Instead of two side plates making up the gaurd its is formed by a single side ring or loop. The blade has a hexagonal ricaso trasitioning into a diamond cross section. There are inlays of brass(?) on both sides of the ricaso which has two small grinding flats from removing paring nicks. The hilt is wrapped in twisted copper wire with turksheads at the top and bottom. This little sword dates to somewhere between 1720-50.
